Catja’s Story
As a child, Catja Lovell voyaged with her father, an anthropologist, to the North Islands to study the tribes that inhabit them. After his death, she continues to do her best to emulate his practices and continue his research.

When a band of Jordinian explorers arrive, spearheaded by the emperor’s obnoxious – yet, somehow frustratingly charming – royal nephew, Catja is reluctantly thrust into the position of translator and intercessor between the newcomers and the tribe. Once she learns the Jordinians believe they now own the land, she takes it upon herself to dissuade them before they can do the islands and the natives any harm.

Can she succeed? Or will the voice of one woman be drowned out by warmongering mainlanders? Can Catja possibly get through to the emperor’s rock-headed nephew who has definitely begun to occupy more of her time…and thoughts…than she would ever care to admit?
