Book Review: Where the Sea Takes Me (Sea: Book #2) by Heidi R. Kling

Where the Sea Takes Me (Entangled Teen, June 2018) is the sequel to Where I Found You, formerly published as Sea, by Heidi R. Kling. You can view my glowing review of Sea here.

Now, I’m not taking credit for this sequel happening. Buuut, back in 2012, I *did* email the author bursting at the seams with questions and begging her for a sequel. And she *did* write me back. So. There’s that. 😉

Where the Sea Takes Me reunites us with Sienna and Deni, despite the fact it’s been two years, Sienna’s supposed to be with Spider now, and last time we saw Deni, he was engaged to someone else. Together, Sienna and Deni take a trip to Cambodia to help rehabilitate young girls who have, very sadly and devastatingly, been sex-trafficked. This novel deals with heavy themes of rape but handles them gently, with tact, in an honest but YA-appropriate way.

Something about the sequel felt a little rushed, but I’m not complaining; I’m so glad either way that Kling gave us a satisfying resolution to Sienna and Deni’s relationship, and all these years later, I’ve gotten the closure I wanted. Kudos to Kling and Entangled Teen for making it happen. I can’t wait to see (sea) ‘where she takes me’ next! (Oh, stop groaning.)
