Full Name: Andrew Cosmith

Featured in: The Duchess’s Descendants by C.K. Brooke

From: Jordinia

Status: Fourth son of the Duke and Duchess of Jordinia

Distinguishing characteristics: Shaggy, unkempt hair; a crooked nose. Talks a big game but is mostly all talk. Infuriatingly cocky but hilariously incompetent.

Motivations: Attention, credit, and meaning. Though he’s slow to admit it, Drew is just looking for an opportunity to leave his mark upon the world and prove his credibility and worth.

Drew’s Story:
Gambling away his fortune, illegally fielding bets, and chainsmoking cigars are just a few of the young lord’s past-times. No luck with business—or women, either—has left him itching for adventure and the opportunity to really be something. Along with his favorite brother, Ludwig, Drew is propositioned by the emperor himself to spearhead an expedition to the wilderness and chart the territory for the empire. Drew immediately agrees, although he has little idea what is in store for him there…

But he’s soon saddled with an gregarious conman and a zealous giant on the quest. When the thieves ride off, the man Antonia has saved is inexplicably furious with her. She can’t understand why. What could she have given them that was more important to him than his life? Furthermore, he now refuses to let her go until she’s helped him get it back. Is the ungrateful stranger and his harebrained hunt just an inconvenient diversion from her journey to Elat? Or, perhaps, could this be the adventure she was seeking all along?

Full Name: Professor Catja Lovell

From: Sialla, East Halvea, World of Jordinia.

Featured in: The Duchess’s Descendants by C.K. Brooke

Catja’s Story
As a child, Catja Lovell voyaged with her father, an anthropologist, to the North Islands to study the tribes that inhabit them. After his death, she continues to do her best to emulate his practices and continue his research.

When a band of Jordinian explorers arrive, spearheaded by the emperor’s obnoxious – yet, somehow frustratingly charming – royal nephew, Catja is reluctantly thrust into the position of translator and intercessor between the newcomers and the tribe. Once she learns the Jordinians believe they now own the land, she takes it upon herself to dissuade them before they can do the islands and the natives any harm.

Can she succeed? Or will the voice of one woman be drowned out by warmongering mainlanders? Can Catja possibly get through to the emperor’s rock-headed nephew who has definitely begun to occupy more of her time…and thoughts…than she would ever care to admit?
